1961 Wurlitzer 2500 Vinyl Jukebox
This beautiful Wurlitzer 2500 jukebox dates from 1961 and and is one of the most stylish machines ever created by the company. The cabinet design was quite a departure for the company, who wanted to create something new for the coming decade. Boasting 200 vinyl selections, it features a ‘floating dome’ which covers both the selection cards and selection mechanism. Moving down the cabinet, we find striking and somewhat futuristic triangular buttons, and chrome grill bars with gold plated bobbins on them.
The 2500 is one of the last models that still retained the fully visible mechanism and once a selection is made, the records are played vertically in full view. As with all the machines that pass through our workshop, this Wurlitzer has undergone a complete strip down and rebuild with absolutely nothing left to chance. The original valve amplifier and power supply has been fully overhauled and sounds terrific, whilst the cabinet and chrome detailing have undergone extensive refurbishment as part of our comprehensive process. Now restored to her former glory, this 2500 stands ready to entertain for years to come.
Rare though many of these machines are, rarer still are the examples which have been properly restored or can truthfully be said to be in full working order. It goes without saying that when unrestored machines come up for sale online or at auction, they’ll often be priced rather lower than the machines sold by us, and the point we wish to get across above all others is that there’s a reason for this.
