1997 Medieval Madness Pinball by Williams
Widely regarded as one of the greatest pinball machines ever made, Williams’s Medieval Madness remains a firm favourite among players and collectors alike. With only 4,016 units produced, this 1997 masterpiece represents the very best of the late pinball renaissance, combining humour, artistry and exhilarating gameplay in perfect balance.
Designed by Brian Eddy with artwork from John Youssi and Greg Freres, Medieval Madness features a fantasy world of castles, trolls, wizards and dragons, all brought to life with Williams’s trademark creativity and engineering brilliance. Its centrepiece, the exploding castle, is often cited as the most satisfying playfield toy ever built. Add pop-up trolls, a flying dragon and deep, fast-paced rules, and it’s easy to see why this table consistently tops the Pinball Machine Database rankings.
From its witty callouts (including voice work by Saturday Night Live’s Tina Fey) to its colourful playfield and thunderous sound, Medieval Madness delivers a true sensory spectacle. It’s endlessly playable for both newcomers and experts, a machine that rewards skill, timing and daring shots.
This example has undergone a complete Grade A1 restoration by SMN Arcade Square’s in-house specialists. Every component has been stripped, rebuilt and tested to original factory standards. The result is a table that looks and plays exactly as it did when it left the Chicago factory in 1997 or arguably even better!
